We are followers of Jesus Christ first and foremost, part of God’s big family on mission.
We are an evangelical Baptist church; autonomous, but member of the Baptist Union. We love the Bible, the word of God the Father. We love Jesus the living Word, our Lord and Saviour. We love the work of the Holy Spirit. We also love people, and we especially love it when God in his grace radically changes lives.
Everyone deserves welcome, love, and a place. All of us are eager to have a purpose, to be heard, to make a mark for good in the world. We believe everyone is unique and valuable and we really come alive when we wake up to the reason we’re here. That’s why we prize the fact that at LSBC we’re neither too small nor too large, but the right size to know everybody. You are not a number to God, and you are not a number to us.

Christ.
We commit ourselves to be Christ-centred in all we do: putting deep trust in the Lord’s strength and calling, obeying and teaching to obey all he has commanded, always seeking his Holy Spirit in prayer to guide and empower us.
Matthew 28:20; Isaiah 26:4; John 14:1; 2 Corinthians 5:7

Care.
We commit ourselves to foster a culture of discipleship lived out in our love and care for one another: honouring each other and looking to build each other up, including the marginalised and the vulnerable, joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
John 13:35; Romans 12:10, 12

Community.
We commit ourselves to love our community both in practical action and with the good news of Jesus Christ: working together with other Christians in service and mission, building trusting relationships with our neighbours, seeking his Kingdom in our town, our country, and our world.
Matthew 28:10; Micah 6:8; Matthew 6:33; Romans 12:18

Change.
We commit ourselves to embrace change as the Lord builds his church for the needs of today: not bound by tradition but adventurous in mission, open to the Holy Spirit and the new things he does, putting out into deep water and letting down the nets for a catch.
Luke 4:5; Isaiah 43:19; Matthew 16:18; 2 Corinthians 3:17
